1. What problem was Bluefin founded to solve?

Bluefin was founded on the core belief that a brand’s value is ultimately tied to its ability to deliver a secure, yet frictionless, customer experience. And while many security companies have focused on preventing access, we nurture the modern economy by tokenizing and encrypting data from point-to-point, so that it can flow without friction, and has no value to hackers. We not only protect payments and sensitive data through encryption and tokenization, our product suite includes solutions for contactless, face-to-face, call center, mobile, E-commerce and unattended payments and data in the retail, healthcare, higher education, government and nonprofit industries.

2. How do you describe Bluefin's right to win in your market?

Bluefin serves multiple markets including healthcare. Hospitals, clinics and healthcare organizations have become a preferred hacker target because of the sheer amount of PHI, PII and payment data being processed. Bluefin devalues all data – whether payments, Protected Health Information (PHI) or Personally Identifiable Information (PII) accepted both at the point-of-sale (POS) and online – using a combination of encryption and tokenization. Our solutions ensure that patient data is worthless to hackers in the event of a breach or compromise at the point of sale or in the data center. We have a large network of partners including Epic, Waystar/ HealthPay24, Phreesia, Flywire and many more.

3. What are your key goals and definition of success in the next 12 months?

Our ongoing mission is to continue to deliver healthcare payment and data processing solutions that protects cardholder data, PHI and sensitive medical information. Our goal is to be the preferred provider of PCI-validated point-to-point encryption (P2PE) solutions for healthcare, including our ShieldConex® data security platform which protects consumer, medical and payment data entered online. P2PE and ShieldConex combine to provide the most secure and holistic solution for healthcare data. Our new ShieldConex Proxy solution minimizes the PCI and PII footprint and delivers true payment processor independence by utilizing vaultless tokens that can be used to process data on any processor.
